AMF/FAM Graduation 2016
October is the end of the school year in Guatemala. And as we come to the end of another successful year at the Asturias Maldonado Foundation, we are happy to report that our third, 2016 Class at AMF/FAM has graduated and is preparing options to pursue higher education. Three young women and nine young men have completed their High School degree with an emphasis in computer science.
We want to use this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and commitment to keep our fabulous school program for rural children in San Marcos, Guatemala, on its successful path. |
We are happy to report that our FAM program has been selected among the 10 best rural educational programs, out of 99 schools run by coffee farms in Guatemala, by the Foundation for Development of Coffee Farms Association (FUNCAFE). Moreover, two of our students, Deyli Yesenia Escobar Orozco, 5th grade from El Baluarte Comunity and Carlos Miguel Alonzo Ramírez, 6th grade from Finca Dos Marías, have been granted the first place awards in the National Reading Proficiency Competition. We are very proud to receive this special national recognition among all coffee growers in the country and so very proud of the children who have received the reading awards.
