BLOG: Miracles in education and community advancement
This informational space is dedicated to the FAM family, educators and our generous supporters
Walking to and from school 6 miles when you're just starting first or second grade, shouldn't be your only option for getting a quality education!
AMF/FAM has done its research. After conducting a series of field visits to nearby communities, we realized that the number one obstacle for parents of rural children in Guatemala, working against their ability to sending their small children to school, is lack of transportation. A close second is clothing. And a close third is foot ware. Must families can’t afford more than one pair of shoes per year, an if you consider that the school year in Guatemala which runs from January to October, that means going to school during most of the rainy season! keeping kids’ shoes in good standing, if they are forced to trek long distances, in muddy rocky dirt roads, to and from school, is a big challenge. But thank you to the generous support of our donors, AMF/FAM can transport our entire school establishment, students, teaches and other staff, free of charge. Thank you!
